The Artistry of the Soul retreat is an invitation to deepen your yoga practice, to explore improvisation with movement, voice and storytelling, to experience the thrill of spontaneity, the clarity of trusting your body wisdom, and the empowerment of embodiment.

I love the essential nature of working and playing with body and sound. Body and sound are the essence of life.

I often reflect that everything we need is contained within the wisdom of our bodies. Nothing else is required - only that we be present. And from that place of presence, so much can be explored and experienced, so much creativity can take place.

Creating space for our bodies and voices to move with freedom and awareness can be incredibly transformative and uplifting. Old patterns can be shifted, new ways of being and seeing can be experienced. Over the past few years, I have had the priviledge of teaching many retreats in Ubud.
From my experience there is no doubt that Ubud itself adds a deeper level of enjoyment to the experience of these retreats.

Ubud is Bali’s artistic and healing centre, in fact the word Ubud means medicine. Ubud supports beautifully the magical transformation that takes place when we come together to share our creativity and deepen our yoga practise.

Each morning will begin with a yoga class that will be both dynamic and restorative. We will tune into our body wisdom by being present to each posture and its healing and aligning properties. We will explore a deeper connection with the bandhas (internal locks that develop strength and stability and improve alignment), a deeper connection to the breath. We will explore the art of stillness and deep rest.

Each day will end with an improvisation class where we will deepen our connection to body wisdom through guided improvised movement. We will experience the interconnection between body and sound, the freedom of storytelling, and ultimately the interplay between movement, voice, and story.

In the evenings additional restorative yoga and meditation classes will also be included.

Time between classes might be spent receiving a massage or treatment from the highly skilled Balinese therapists, walking through the dreamy rice fields, visiting temples, sampling the wonderful restaurants and cafes in Ubud, and experiencing the beauty and grace of the Balinese culture.

Dr Vijoleta Braach Masvytis will also be presenting “Exploring through the Senses” with photography and creative writing www.sensesandstillness.com and Daniel Li Ox will be sharing his embodied wisdom with the practices of Tantra and Chi Kung. He will also be providing live music in the improvisation sessions.

This retreat will suit all levels of experience.

Artistry of the Soul will be taking place in the beautiful setting of Ubud, Bali at Melati Cottages, in the tranquil village of Penastanan.

$1,100 for single room (early bird)
$1,300 for a single room after May 7

Cost includes accommodation, breakfasts, 3 massage/beauty treatments at Cantika - Kathryn's favourite massage place in the rice fields, and all classes. (airfare not included)

To secure a place on the retreat please pay a $400 deposit.

DETAILS
The June retreat begins on Monday June 7 so ideally check in to Melati in the morning. We will gather in the afternoon at 4pm for an opening circle, followed by a yoga class.

The retreat ends on Monday 14 June, with a morning yoga class and a closing circle, with a late morning checkout.

Transport from Denpasar airport is easy to arrange. It takes about an hour by taxi from Denpasar to Ubud. The taxi from airport to Melati costs about AUD$30 per vehicle so if you are travelling with someone else, or if you happen to be arriving at the same time as another retreat participant, that cost can be shared between you. Please let me know of your arrival time and I will organise with Melati for someone to pick you up.
